When it comes to getting medical care for their child, the role of the parent is an important one. Often the parent has to work with many different people in addition to doctors. It is up to the parent to make sure the needs of their child are met. SCDAI is hosting a special training for parents of children with genetic conditions. It is our goal to help you learn ways to improve care coordination for your child.
To be eligible for the training, you should:
- Be the parent (biological, foster, kinship or adoptive) or legal guardian of a child or youth from birth to 18 years who has been diagnosed or identified as having a genetic condition.
- Be able to attend the full day of training (8:30 am to 5 pm).
- Be willing to complete a pre-training survey prior to attending the training, an evaluation at the end of the day of training, as well as a follow up survey one year later.
There is no cost to you for this training. You will receive a gift card at the end of the day of the training after completing your evaluation form and another gift card will be mailed to you upon completion of the one year follow up. This is to help offset your time and any childcare expenses you may have. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided during the training.
